Pub To Pub
Pubs are one of the most endearing features of English life. More than just a bar, the Pub—short for public house—is the village gathering spot, where subjects from sports to politics and beyond are discussed over a drink. English pubs are famous for their ales-real ale is hand-pumped up from the cellar and served cool. Lagers, stouts, wines and mixed drinks are also available. Most pubs also serve food, although usually the kitchen will not be open all day.
Pub Etiquette: Normally you won’t run a tab at a pub, but rather pay for your drinks as you go. It’s quite common for a stranger to buy you a pint as they strike up a conversation with you, and you’d be polite to return the favor for the next round. Pub food is also ordered at the bar. Just tell the publican what you’d like and where you’re sitting, and they’ll bring it out to you. Tipping is not expected when ordering drinks only; however, 10-15% can be left on the table if you’ve had a good meal.
