Self Guided Tours

On our self guided tours, you will navigate using our maps and detailed instructions.  Once you leave the bike shop, you are on your own and completely free to travel at your own pace. You can get an early start and cover more territory, or sleep in and take the morning off.  You will be expected to handle any small problems, such as flats, on your own, but you’ll never be more than a few miles away from on-call technical support if you have a problem beyond your ability. 

WHAT’S INCLUDED: 

  • 6 nights accommodations at 3 or 4 Diamond Inns and Bed & Breakfast, always including fully cooked English breakfast, Sunday night through Friday night
  • On call bicycle mechanic for major issues
  • New, comfortable Trek 7100 touring bike
  • 2 panniers and 1 handlebar rack
  • Navigation maps and detailed instruction
  • Discovery CycleTours water bottle and compass (yours to keep)
  • Lock and chain
  • Tire repair kit and spare tube

    • WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED: 

  • helmet; gloves; rain gear; sunscreen.  Note:  you may bring your own seat and pedals
  • Round trip taxi transfer from Norwich hotel to bike shop (less than 2 miles, approximately $10)
  • Transfer from London airports to Norwich

    • ITINERARY: 

  • SUNDAY Arrive in Norwich, check in at inn, and acclimate to English time zone (EST plus 5 hours).  Explore the historic Castle or Cathedral, both a very short walk from your inn.
  • MONDAY Taxi transfer to our bike shop, where you will be fitted for your bike and pack your panniers.  Ride to your first inn in the beautiful English countryside.
  • TUESDAY-FRIDAY Rise at your leisure, enjoy a hot English breakfast, depart on your own schedule along our carefully planned route. Each day will average 30 miles, with the option to ride more or less depending on what you decide.  You decide how far and when-if you want to ride less you can take a shortcut, and if you want a longer day take one of our exciting loops. 
  • SATURDAY Complete your journey with a ride into Norwich to turn in your bike before 3 pm please.  Now you may catch a train back to London or stay an extra night in Norwich if you wish.

  • $999 per person, double occupancy.
  • Single traveler supplement $299.
  • $99 credit if you use your own bicycle.

    • DATES: 

    Self Guided tours begin with a Sunday night stay in Norwich each week from 25 May 2008 to 7 September 2008.  Each tour concludes the following Saturday before 3 PM.
